Only Read The Example Code - Run It

Yet, when you're reading a programming guide/tutorial (or book), it's anything but difficult to take a gander at the example code and state "I get it, I get it, that bodes well". Obviously, you may get it, yet you probably won't get it, and you simply don't have any experience with it. There's just a single method to discover - accomplish something with that code.

At that point type the example code into a compiler- - on the off chance that you type it, rather than reordering it, you will truly constrain yourself to experience all that is there. Composing the code will drive you to focus on the subtleties of the sentence structure of the language- - things like those entertaining semicolons that appear to pursue each line.

At that point compile it and run it. Ensure it does what you figure it does.

At that point change it. Software is the most handily changed hardware on earth. You can analyze effectively, attempt new things, see what occurs; the progressions will happen very quickly, and there is no danger of death or anarchy. The most effortless approach to learning new language highlights is to take some code that works one way and change it.

The last word about debuggers: the first occasion when you find out about a debugger, it will take you longer to fix the issues with your code. After the 10th or so bug, it will truly begin to pay off. Furthermore, trust me, you will have far more than ten bugs in your programming profession.

I regularly observed students reluctant to utilize a debugger. These understudies truly made life hard on themselves, taking ages to discover straightforward bugs. The sooner you figure out how to utilize a debugger, the sooner it will pay off.

The challenges of ROI in IT security

Over the last few months, I’ve had a number of conversations about the need to justify security spending. This year has been tough for a lot of organizations, so IT budgets are generally not growing. Plus, the money already allocated often had to be re-prioritized to meet changing business needs. At the same time, executives and board members become painfully aware of today’s cyber risks and the cost of not paying attention. They expect the IT team and IT security leaders to provide solid data points that enable the most effective security investment decisions

When I have a chance to talk about security investments, whether in people, processes or technology, I always try to ask one question: How do you think this can pay off? The answers vary greatly, but they can be distilled into one or more of these four categories:
This investment will save us money by reducing ongoing costs.
This investment will help us comply with contractual obligations or industry or government regulations.
This investment will reduce our business risks (by reducing probability, impact or both).
This investment will enable us pursue new business opportunities.

All four elements seem to be good reasons to invest. But where does each of these fit in the conversation, and how do you put it all together? Let’s look at each element in turn.

How much does a system administrator

According to salary figures from Indeed.com for June 2020, the average system administrator salary in the U.S. is estimated to be $84,363 per year. The range is quite broad, with figures starting around $43,000 and reaching as high as $145,000.

Two main factors affect how much a sysadmin makes: years of experience and geographic location. Let’s dive into each of them.

Senior system administrator salaries vary dramatically by location but according to Glassdoor.com, the national average earning is $81,745.

A senior system administrator job description typically includes:
Hands-on experience with a range of operating systems, backup and recovery procedures, and system performance monitoring tools
A deep understanding of the principles and practices of effective management, since they often supervise junior admins even if all the sysadmins report to the same manager
A requirement to sign a non-disclosure agreement, since they often work with sensitive personal information that is subject to data privacy requirements

move our analytics program

The software is a FOSS program called Matomo. Our current implementation was running on Ubuntu with Apache as the back end, and I was the one who originally built it about 3 years ago. I’m a documentation fiend and had tested a similar operation just a few months before, so this should have been a walk in the park.

To make it more interesting, the managers had asked me to try it with a different web server to see if we could improve the performance a little bit. So, off I went to rebuild the instance on our cloud platform. It took me all of a few hours, and by the end of the day, I had a working instance ready for the DB to be restored. I felt great! I had completed the request in record time — the data restore would only take a couple of hours and we’d be up and running by our coffee break.

I grabbed my documentation and ran the command that I had just tested only a couple of months before that to restore the database — and then I could no longer log in to my phpmyadmin. EH? (That means WTF in Canadian.)

I started going through everything again. I could log into MySQL via the Ubuntu command line and run operations. I could see all the data was there, but when I tried to log on via the web … nothing.

Tips for Building a Strong Cloud Security

Cloud computing involves security challenges you might not encounter in an on-prem IT environment. With no perimeter or a vague perimeter, third-party access to your environment is easier compared to a traditional data center. Plus, cloud services rely on a shared responsibility model; the provider is primarily responsible for physical security and application availability.

Therefore, instead of fortifying your physical perimeter, you need to focus on data flows and user and application activity across your infrastructure. Key areas to pay attention to include:
Security planning — Knowing how and why people and software applications use your data is crucial for determining how to properly secure it. Which data is critical to business operations? What can you afford to lose? Evaluate the sensitivity of your assets, map your data flows and understand your data lifecycle.
Risk assessment — Don’t let someone else find your vulnerabilities; be proactive. Look for and mitigate gaps in your security posture.
Security monitoring — Monitoring activity across your network and systems is essential for spotting active threats.
Regulatory compliance: Cloud environments like Amazon Web Services, Azure and Google Cloud provide guides for GDPR compliance and can help with other regulations as well. But keep in mind that compliance is ultimately your responsibility.

How to Add a Guest User to a Group

Any group member can nominate an Office 365 group external user for guest access, but only the group owner can grant guest access. The process of adding a guest user to a group proceeds as follows:
The group owner or a group member uses the Groups > Add Members command to nominate the external user for membership by entering the user’s email address.
The group owner reviews the access permissions the guest would receive by joining and approves the nomination.
The guest receives a welcome email and can begin participating in group activities.

Guest members of a Microsoft 365 group:
Don’t have direct access to any of the group’s sites, such as a team site in SharePoint
Can participate in group activities through conversations and group calendar invitations sent to their email inbox
Can access shared files included in email messages, such as attachments or links, provided the administrator has enabled the requisite file-sharing permissions

The external sharing capabilities of SharePoint Online can be managed at two levels:
Across the entire Microsoft 365 tenant, through either the SharePoint Admin Center, the Microsoft 365 admin center or Azure AD
At the site level

Cybersecurity Top-of-Mind for Tech Firms

Later in the month, Community managers Adam Proulx and Miles Jobgen talked with Ken Muir, chief security officer, LCM Security Inc. They covered the world of cybercrimes, how hackers are using emerging technologies to outsmart their targets, and how the pandemic has impacted cybersecurity.“There’s a couple of reasons why ransomware works the way it does: One, [cybercriminals] don’t activate straight away because they want you to run backups for several weeks, because they know when you run the restores it’s going to re-infect the system. And two, people don’t patch. I see the same thing over and over again. I find out what ransomware it is and say, ‘This patch came out two years ago and your entire operation is down because you didn’t patch for this.’”Ken Muir, Chief Security Officer, LCM Security Inc

Finally, at the end of Cybersecurity Awareness Month, Miles Jobgen welcomed Kevin McDonald, cybersecurity practitioner, presenter, trainer, and COO and CISO at Alvaka Networks, to discuss ransomware attacks. Kevin shared his perspective on the biggest threat to IT solution providers today and provided insight and applicable steps to help everyone rise to the ransomware challenge.
“You can't pretend to do security. You can't kind of do security.”

Media Address Control (MAC) Sub Layer

To gain an appreciation of the characteristics of addressing, it is helpful to bring forward an example that may be familiar and easy to understand.

Let’s think about this in terms of a mobile home community. Each of the mobile homes have a serial number permanently attached to the home’s frame. Computers have a similar address, called its media access control (MAC) address. That address is “burnt” on to the computers network interface card and is unique in nature. An example of the MAC address is shown in figure 1 below.

Another layer 2 function is to establish protocols that relate to the structure of data frames that are placed on the network for data transmission. Uniformity is an important characteristic and includes placing both addresses for the data sender as well as the data recipient. Figure 2 below provides an example of an Ethernet II frame.

Each frame includes the MAC address of the source of the frame and the MAC address of the intended recipient. When a device sends a packet to the broadcast MAC address (FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF), it is delivered to all stations on the local network.

value-added resellers (VARs)

Another business model that is familiar to many in the IT industry, value-added resellers (VARs) came into existence as technology vendors needed pathways for getting their product to market. As computing use exploded from a select few large companies into the general business market, vendors could not directly reach every interested customer. VARs provided a way to achieve scale, and the “value-added” part of the equation ensured that they could capture more profit through integration or training rather than just acting as a facilitator. Even in a cloud-based world, physical hardware is still required in many situations, so this model has traction even as many VARs also diversify with other business models.
Managed Services

One of the most common models for diversification is managed services. This model moves away from one-time projects into ongoing work (also shifting from one-time sales into recurring revenue). In many cases, managed service providers (MSPs) act as virtual IT departments for their clients, performing the tactical work of keeping IT infrastructure running or monitoring network behavior for security incidents. The managed service sector has become its own cottage industry, with MSP-specific tools such as professional service automation (PSA) and remote monitoring and management (RMM). While the offering is technically an ongoing service, this model is still tied fairly closely to vendor products—the thing(s) being managed typically come from a company higher up the chain.

Solution Building

This final business model is where the crystal ball gets murky. While the other three models have been in place for years (or decades), the creation of unique solutions is a recent response to a major shift in IT operations. Our whitepaper on The Role of Emerging Technology in Digital Operations describes the way that IT activities once-focused on the platform for computing now focus on more complex solutions built on a stable platform. As the basic pieces of IT architecture become commoditized, we will see the rise of what the whitepaper calls “artisan IT”—combining those parts into solutions tailored to industries or individual companies. This model may depend on vendor components for the pieces, but the final solution will be a unique creation from the solution provider.

Become familiar with the inside of a computer

Knowing what the inside of a computer looks like and how all the parts connect to each other is very important. Take apart a computer, and practice taking adapter cards out of the computer, unscrewing hard drives and optical drives, and examining individual components. This works best if you have a desktop computer, and preferably one that you can use for practice (not the main computer you need for day-to-day use, or the one you are using to complete your online computer training course). Become familiar with the cabling, connectors, and how everything fits together.

Tip 3: Use additional study resources available on the Internet
Use additional study resources available online. While the Computer Technician course has been designed as a comprehensive training course with all of the information needed to pass the CompTIA A+ exams, it is also helpful to supplement your studies with additional online resources. Good review materials can be found for free online, and include tutorials, video clips, pictures, and other resources to help provide a well-rounded approach to your studies.

Tip 4: Take a few practice exams
The Computer Technician course has been designed with evaluation points along the way, including unit reviews, quizzes, and a midterm and final exam after each major section. Review these sections and make sure you did well. Review these quizzes as needed, and take them again for practice. The midterm and final are also designed to provide a practice experience. You can take the midterm as many times as you would like and the final up to 3 times. In addition to information in the course, you can also go online and search for various free practice exams or quizzes to test your knowledge of materials presented on the A+ exams. Sample questions can be downloaded from the CompTIA website

Sit for a practice exam comptia a+ certification

After completing the entire course and learning all the dedicated knowledge you require to pass the examination, it is time to sit for a practice exam. As described earlier, taking a practice test will reveal your current level of authenticity and how strong the foundation of your knowledge is. The practice test you take can be a little or extremely different from the actual examination; this depends on the vendor you have chosen to provide the practice test.

If you don't feel confident at all, completing your first practice test or the grades were just not compelling enough then take a deep breath, it is not the end of the world. Prepare yourself again and review all the knowledge that you have encompassed throughout preparation and once again head for the practice test. It is essential to know that you should not take the actual test based over a hunch that you might be ready for it, first take the practice test, and if it shows any promise, then head towards the main attraction.

Schedule your exam test

After all the preparation and taking practice tests, if you feel like you are ready for the main event, then you have to schedule a date for your exam. You will have to seek the services of a partner site or body accredited with CompTIA to settle all the affairs regarding your examination. Setting an exam date will do you some solid as you will be more accountable than ever to attend to various substances or elements of your study.

Before you get down to the week in which you have appointed the exam date for your certification, you need to review all the syllabus accordingly. Go through all the study material you have used so far or better yet make notes throughout your preparation so you have customized and a small number of elements to go through before your exam.

expertise in strategic and tactical roles

As noted, a CISO-as-a-Service can serve both a strategic and tactical role. In most cases, businesses want to leverage both. They must have expertise in both areas. Here are the differences:
Strategic CISO-as-a-Service roles assist leadership teams with cybersecurity strategies that align with business objectives. This strategy includes one-, two-, and three-year roadmaps. You’ll receive guidance and recommendations on cybersecurity best practices to prevent incidents and breaches.
Tactical CISO-as-a-Service roles actually execute on the tasks within the strategy. The CISO-as-a-Service acts as a project manager to offer oversight on these activities.
Typically, CISO-as-a-Service isn’t one individual. Rather, it’s a team of experts that have knowledge in multiple areas. That’s certainly the model you want to find because it means you have access to a group of experts. But what helps is having one point of contact to discuss tasks and deliverables. A dedicated project manager helps keep things organized and streamlined so you’re always up to date.

What kind of reporting do they offer?

Reporting is key to cybersecurity. From regular reporting, you learn about vulnerabilities, threats, user behaviors, and more. At a minimum, you should receive monthly reports on these concerns and what the CISO-as-a-Service has deployed.

Cybersecurity Skills to Improve

There’s always room for improvement.” A saying that you have surely heard whether it was in school as a kid, doing chores at home or playing sports with friends. While this saying can apply to almost every realm of life, it most definitely applies to IT professionals! When it comes to learning new skills or refining current skills, the sky is the limit for IT pros. And guess what? Research shows that your employer thinks there are cybersecurity skills you should improve on too.

CompTIA’s new research report on the state of cybersecurity in 2020 shows that companies want further improvement on certain cybersecurity skills, even if those skills are already fairly strong. The report also states that the even though companies are looking for improvement in a certain skill, it does not necessarily mean they have a lack of strength in that skill. This statement more so relates to a company’s experience utilizing that skill. If companies know more about a certain skill, they know what they need to do to fine tune that skill.

The study also revealed the particular cybersecurity skills IT pros need in order to build their knowledge base and ultimately, their careers as:
Data security
Network security
Data analysis
Threat knowledge
Identity management
Application security
Endpoint security
Regulatory landscape
Cryptography

The chart below digs a little bit deeper to show just how much improvement employers believe they need across these cybersecurity skills.

The Transition to a Mobile Workforce

Looking at the current and future ideas of how and where we work, it’s evident that much is changing. Being in one physical space with peers isn’t necessary to communicate and collaborate. While remote work got a boost in adoption due to COVID-19, remote work will continue post-pandemic. However, concern still lingers in the minds of businesses — cybersecurity and remote work.

Before the pandemic, remote work was already a popular way to provide a more flexible experience for employees. The growth in remote work was 44 percent in the last five years. That’s significant growth, but many employers had hesitations and concerns. Would a remote team be productive? Would they be able to collaborate? And what about security?

Whatever barriers keeping some companies from offering remote work fell when it became evident, they needed to protect their employees’ health. Although these companies made the shift, they are still catching up and addressing new cybersecurity and remote work challenges. The most worrisome is converting a cybersecurity framework from a central network and retooling it to fit a distributed work model. There are now more endpoints for hackers to penetrate.

If this is what you are currently facing, here are some ideas about navigating through hurdles and best practices.

Implement Monitoring Tools

There are a variety of cybersecurity monitoring tools you can deploy to detect any virus and malware attempts. Be sure that you use tools that meet your specific needs, especially if you deal with highly sensitive data, such as PHI (protected healthcare information) or financial information.

As your network changes and grows, you may need to reevaluate the tools in place to ensure they are providing as much detection protection as possible.

Every business needs to have an incident response plan (IRP). The plan is basically a document that goes through a lot of “what-if” scenarios. It should also outline your incident response team (IRT) and their functions.

These responses can sound great in theory, but they may not fit the reality. It’s a good idea to practice your IRP as best as possible, simulating real-world occurrences. Only by conducting a test of it will you be able to determine if there are gaps that need readjustment. This may be especially true now if you have a fully remote or distributed team model.

post-mortem briefing incident response

Holding a post-mortem briefing with your incident response team members after the incident has taken place and the fallout has mostly been uncovered is a key component to preventing it from happening again. This type of follow up is important because your employees need to understand how the breach could have been prevented in the first place.

“Looking back to look ahead” is a key element of threat intelligence and risk assessment. If you are able to identify the root cause of the breach via, for instance, the logs on your firewall or security information and event management (SIEM) software, you may be able to automate a response that can prevent the breach the next time it rolls around.

Post-incident you will also need to inform your customers, vendors and technology partners of the incident in order to move forward as a community.

It’s important to stay humble when going through the incident response process. Assume you will be attacked as opposed to thinking you are too strong to be affected. Remaining humble in your planning, training and communications will help to mitigate any unforeseen perception hits to your organization.

Why Is Ransomware Spiking

Things seem to have settled into a tenuous rhythm since the initial shock to our institutions caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The shift to an all- or mostly remote workplace has not been without its hiccups but has allowed many companies to continue doing business while stemming the spread of the virus. This new, sudden and unexpected way of working, though, has had consequences. Just as there have been – and will continue to be – unforeseen social, economic, infrastructural and individual challenges as a result of the pandemic, there have also been unanticipated challenges in the world of cybersecurity.

Cybersecurity pros, working in an already high-stress profession have had, like so many others, to deal with the challenges of maintaining peak performance amid extreme uncertainty while balancing work and home commitments suddenly heaped upon them. More surprisingly, even the that cybersecurity pros need to stave off have changed. For example, ransomware, a type of malware attack that had actually been experiencing a bit of a downturn pre-pandemic, has skyrocketed since mid-March 2020, outpacing other common cybersecurity threats.

Reasons Why Cloud Skills Training

In the last decade, the world of business has changed considerably due to the impact of technological innovation. In particular, cloud computing has grown into one of the most important paradigms in business. As such, it has become imperative for any business to adopt cloud technology. History has shown that whenever there is a new change in technology, organizations are forced to either hire new talent who possess the relevant skills or to train existing employees to adapt to that new technology.

Today, it has become very essential for all organizations to bridge the skills gap in cloud technologies. Since employees skills are the bedrock of success for all organizations, a successful business must attract, retrain, and grow talent with the most in-demand skills. The “cloud skills gap” is growing at a faster rate than in previous years, and it is necessary for every organization to acknowledge, confront, overcome the gap as soon as possible.

The growth of cloud computing is taking place at a rapid rate, and this has posed a serious challenge for many organizations. As per the Cost of Cloud Expertise Report (2017), 60% of organizations are struggling to keep pace with cloud technology due to a lack of relevant skills. On the other hand, organizations that can utilize expertise in adapting to the latest advances in cloud technology are enjoying enormous benefits.

Profitable Career In Cyber Security

The field of cyber security is growing every year by leaps and bounds as companies and other organizations realize how imperative it is to protect their networks and data. According to the Cybersecurity Ventures’ 2019 Cybersecurity Market Report, worldwide spending on cyber security is expected to exceed one trillion dollars by 2025. As companies struggle to keep up with the rising threat of cyber crime, they’re having one major problem: they can’t find enough qualified candidates.

That’s right, cyber security specialists are so in demand that the number of open positions has outstripped the number of qualified applicants by as much as 2 to 1 in some industries. So what’s holding applicants back? About one-third of information security jobs require a cyber security certification compared to 23 percent of all IT jobs. In the U.S. alone, some 50,000 vacant jobs require the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification. But the number of certificate holders is only about 73,500, according to the Information Security System Certification Consortium, and most of them are already working.

Are you considering a career in cyber security, but not sure where to start? LeaderQuest offers multiple cyber security training programs that can prepare you to enter this exciting industry. Take a look at the four programs below, and you’ll be able to choose one that’s ideal for where you are now and what you’d like to do with your career.

values CompTIA certifications

Jain searched for discussion groups and social platforms that had the right audience – potential test takers. She looked for groups that were discussing not only CompTIA but also terms related to the IT industry and IT certifications. These are the people she chose to focus on.
2. Use Keywords

Beginning with a short and catchy headline really grabs the reader’s attention, Jain said. Make sure your messaging is clear, simple and concise. Her advice is to use only 3 to 4 sentences including keywords. For example, Jain said when a potential test taker searches for a good deal, some obvious, but very important, keywords would be “discount,” “voucher,” “20%” and “CompTIA.”

Furthermore, Jain said tracking audience reactions and comments to her posts helped her refine and improve her messaging.
3. Create Urgency

Highlighting the referral link, and directing people to click on it, makes a call to action very simple. And creating a sense of urgency helps as well. Jain suggested using verbiage like “valid only today” followed by specific details to help people commit.

Today’s Multi-Vendor Networks

Computer networks provide the underlying fabric for business by powering operations and creating the technical environment that lets users attend to everyday challenges. The varied nature of business problems and the availability of diverse solutions makes it hard to land on a single provider to supply an end-to-end solution. This problem has led to increased interest in multi-vendor environments.

We live in a world of constant technology flux. It seems there is a new selection of tools and apps available every day to help you meet a plethora of business demands. Having a wide collection of tools at your disposal seems like a win — allowing you to choose the best solution for the job. But, with a multi-vendor networking environment comes certain obstacles that must be managed if you want to implement a successful stack.
Maintenance: Updates and maintenance are a necessary task in any configuration. With single-vendor environments, upgrades can be simpler as they originate from one provider and apply to the overall environment. With multi-vendor environments, updates come from separate providers and may create compatibility or other issues. Additionally, it’s up to you to troubleshoot and manage these tasks. The more complex your network becomes the more difficult maintenance can be. More frequent updates also take more time and manpower to implement, as well as a breadth of knowledge to support.

The global pandemic has thrown organizations large and small into turmoil as offices shuttered overnight, and employees began a trial-by-fire adjustment to home office environments.

This has had a profound impact on the IT needs of businesses, and offers those in the tech job market a series of opportunities in the areas of IT service management (ITSM), unified communications, security, and a host of areas where businesses will need to ramp up their acumen—quickly and permanently.

“The most shocking thing about the pandemic was not that people were starting to work from home, it was how quickly it happened,” explains Shirin Mangold, senior director of IT at software and information solutions specialist Deltek.

She notes the company immediately lost their ability to go in and pick up IT equipment, and had to support employees who had never worked outside the office. This requiring providing an avalanche of information her team needed to communicate to people working remotely, without the ability to rely on traditional in-office communications.

Advantages of CISSP Certification

The CISSP Certification training is a longtime tradition behind it, one that reaches back quite 20 years. As (ISC)² took the initiative of providing the CISSP Professional designation within the mid-1990s, information technology professionals and people in many similar fields have pursued it.

Because CISSP is a transparent indicator of broad-based, platform-agnostic competency in information security and may help professionals within the field further their careers, the choice to require the exam may be a popular one for those with past experience within the world of digital security. Even as a master’s degree provides a critical second level of advanced education and strong resultant cognitive content that is easily recognizable by colleagues and employers, the CISSP certification offers similar benefits.
More about cyber security

Cybersecurity is highly recommended training in today’s world due to the ongoing rise of cyber threats, in-house security breaches, phishing attempts, and other forms of hacking. The demand for experienced cyber security professionals is all-time high and will continuously grow as the gap between supply and demand increases. However, getting the Certified Information Systems Security Professional-CISSP training exam is One of the best ways to get into the world of cyber security.

CompTIA ChannelCON 2020

Connection. If there’s one word that best sums up what CompTIA is all about, it’s “connection”. It connects the global IT community as we all learn, grow, and navigate this amazing channel. One of the best parts of CompTIA is that no matter what the goal is – from new and innovative certifications or trust marks to political lobby missions to conferences aimed at bringing vendors and partners together – CompTIA is all about building relationships.

And I’ve personally seen many of those relationships turn into true friendships.

Once again, I had the pleasure of participating in CompTIA’s ChannelCON event this year. Of course this year, ChannelCON went virtual like many other events. I can imagine the burden the CompTIA team felt in trying to deliver the “relationship factor” and connection that we all love about their events. After all, that’s why we make ChannelCON a priority each year. We know our friends and colleagues will be there, and that we will make new friends and cherished memories for years to come.

I’m thrilled to say the CompTIA team nailed it! Even though we’re forced to stay home, somehow CompTIA managed to deliver the same relationship feeling without skipping a beat.

INFORMATION SHOULD OUR VALUE PROPOSITION

When we have a seemingly great idea, we tend to spend a great deal of time answering the Approach question, coming up with the perfect “solution” to our customer needs. However, we will be much more effective spending that time ensuring we thoroughly understand our customer needs and confirming that there is a viable need in the market. When we have those elements of our value proposition well defined, we should then take it to a wider audience within (or outside of) our organization for review, discussion, and refinement. Carlson and Wilmot aptly call these types of reviews “watering holes” where a variety of individuals and teams come together to provide insights and feedback to help us further improve the idea.

Other elements that matter when determining whether an idea is a potentially viable innovation include:
Size of and potential growth of the market
Alignment with organizational goals
Investment needed
Time to get the product or service to market
Return on Investment (ROI)

All innovations should be tested against these additional criteria, regardless of who in the organization has come up with the idea.

Innovation begins with solving a problem for our customers, and it requires a customer focus and business / entrepreneurial mindset. Large organizations often have formal R&D or Innovation teams, but that’s not where the best ideas and innovations generally come from. In fact, studies show that the vast majority of industry-changing innovations are developed by entrepreneurs.

CWSP Certification to Improve Wi-Fi

With the rise of internet use in both corporate and personal settings, the need for network security is at an all-time high. Indeed, hackers are taking advantage of vulnerabilities in your Wi-Fi network to access sensitive data. From transaction records to customer information (such as names and addresses), experiencing unauthorized access to your company’s information could result in significant damages.

The Certified Wireless Security Professional (CWSP) is a certification process that ensures network professionals have the skills and expertise to keep your business secure. This certification is primarily tailored towards wireless systems and it tests an employee’s ability to detect and prevent attacks before they occur.

Your business can benefit in many different ways by hiring CWSP-certified personnel. From averting data security threats to reducing operational costs, the CWSP certification has become an asset for professionals and the companies they work for.

CWSP tests many different aspects of wireless and network security. For example, you can expect to be tested on architectural and design elements, infrastructure installation and security, compliance, and application data security across wireless channels. This thorough testing ensures that all your company personnel are experienced and knowledgeable of multiple aspects of internet security.

DIGITAL BUSINESS: HOW TO GET

Considering all the recent hype around digital transformation, you would think that IT departments are well-positioned to support the needs of the digital business. Think again! By and large, IT shops are failing their digital business initiatives, and this is evidenced by the continuing trend of outsourcing significant IT functions. In this article, we explore some of the reasons why IT is not prepared and what skills IT needs to support a digital evolution. Learn how IT can identify a “zone of confluence” of core capabilities and develop practices needed by the digital business.

These two drivers are directly related. When the business says, “We’re paying too much for IT,” the unspoken part of that statement is “We’re paying too much for IT for what we get from it.” An IT department that is reactive or slow in terms of supporting the basics – responding to incidents, provisioning computers and software, managing the infrastructure in a way to minimize business disruption – is seen by the business as little more than a money pit. Worse still is when IT is ill-equipped to support new business initiatives, which leads us to #2.

Digital businesses require capabilities – both with new technologies and ways of working – that traditional IT departments tend to lack. From the business’ perspective, it is quicker and possibly less expensive to acquire these capabilities from third parties than to invest in developing internal IT.

Understanding of Customer Needs Is Key

While the COVID-19 global pandemic accelerated demand for specific IT solutions and services, it also prompted IT companies to rethink more broadly how they approach customer acquisition, engagement and support, according to IT leaders representing the managed service provider (MSP), vendor and distributor communities in a “Surviving and Thriving” panel at CompTIA's 2020 EMEA Member and Partner Conference hosted by Nancy Hammervik, CompTIA’s executive vice president of industry relations.

What separated IT companies that survived from those that survived and thrived during the pandemic?

Initially, MSPs and solution providers hat reacted fastest in March and April survived. “That was really around mobility solutions, classic hardware, people running off desktops, people running on notebooks,” said David Watts, managing director at Tech Data UK.

But those MSPs that anticipated and responded to customers’ quickly changing IT requirements are those that truly shine, according to Watts. “Those who understood their customers’ needs the most—beyond the basics of the hardware and the software that they had installed—they’re the ones that are working. They’re the ones that have thrived,” he said.

CompTIA Cybersecurity Career Pathway

While CySA+ focuses on defense through incident detection and response, CompTIA PenTest+ focuses on offense through penetration testing and vulnerability assessment. It involves launching attacks on systems, discovering the vulnerabilities and managing them.

CompTIA PenTest+ is intended for cybersecurity professionals such as penetration testers and vulnerability assessment analysts who are tasked with scanning, identifying, exploiting, reporting and managing vulnerabilities on a network.

Here are just a few of the skills that CompTIA PenTest+ validates:
Plan and scope an assessment
Understand legal and compliance requirements
Perform vulnerability scanning and penetration testing using appropriate tools and techniques
Analyze the results

The progression from CompTIA Security+ to CompTIA CySA+ and/or CompTIA PenTest+ is logical because Security+ assesses the knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) an IT professional demonstrates after two years of cybersecurity field work, and CySA+ and PenTest+ assess three to four years of cybersecurity field work.

Cyber Security Analyst Certifications

CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+) is a critical workforce certification that focuses on behavioral analytics to enhance network and device security by detecting, preventing, and combating cybersecurity threats. CySA+ is the only intermediate high-stakes cybersecurity analyst certification that incorporates performance-based questions encompassing security analytics, threat detection, and response. It’s the most up-to-date security analyst certification covering advanced persistent threats of today.
The CySA+ Exam

As attackers keep crafting new ways to evade the traditional signature-based solutions like firewalls, there is a need for analytics-based solutions within the cybersecurity industry. CySA+ certification covers behavioral analytics skills that can be used to identify and combat malware as well as advanced persistent threats (APTs). This results in enhanced security visibility across the board. CompTIA CySA+ is designed for IT professionals looking to execute the following tasks:
Carry out data analysis, interpret the results, and identify threats, vulnerabilities, and risks to an organization
Configure and utilize threat-detection tools
Secure and protect systems and applications within an organization
Is Why CySA+ Worthwhile for Organizations?

CySA+ is worth more than what the name suggests – skills for cyber security analysts. Employers continuously seek Information Security professionals who can use a cybersecurity skillset to detect and thwart threats before they happen. Companies with in-house security teams will want at least one team member to earn CySA+ certification, especially the employees that handle cybersecurity-related tasks.

CASP+ Preparation Guide

Get books and Join Forum Discussions

You can buy some good books that will give you more material to work with. Joining a Cybersecurity online community as well as participating in Forum Discussions will help you in your CASP certification preparation. These groups will keep you updated on the advancements in the security realm.

Evaluating yourself with mock test papers is as important as the CASP certification preparation. Exam dumps are a great way to determine your improvement in every domain of the exam. Start with taking practice tests based on single-domain subjects. This will let you know which domains are your strengths and which you need to work harder on.

Details of the CompTIA A+ Exam

When you get CompTIA A+ certified, you know that your knowledge matches the expectations actual employers are setting for their IT staff today. How can we be so sure? Well, CompTIA certifications are built and continuously updated by a group of IT industry experts in various industries and professions.
Here’s what you need to know about the CompTIA A+ exams.
The CompTIA A+ Core Series requires candidates to pass two certification exams:

Core 1 (220-1001)
Core 2 (220-1002)

Each of the two exams has no more than 90 questions. Questions include a combination of multiple-choice questions, drag-and-drop activities and performance-based items. Performance-based items test your ability to solve problems in a simulated environment, which is why CompTIA A+ is recognized as a performance certification.
Time management is extremely important when it comes to taking IT certification exams. By design, most of the performance-based questions will appear at the beginning of the exam, and you won’t be able to see a clock when working on each one. Practice is important. Try a sample of a performance-based question.

Remote IT Jobs

You may have heard the phrase tossed around in the workplace: some jobs you just can’t do from home. Even 10 years ago, it was thought that many information technology jobs fell into this category. But, having a large-scale remote workforce has many organizations and individuals re-evaluating what it looks like to do IT jobs from home.
Design Your Interview Space

A remote interview is still your opportunity for a first impression. Blake recommended that you choose a setting that provides good lighting, is in a quiet space and has an appropriate background. Showing you have a dedicated workspace that is already provisioned for IT work may also be enticing for employers.
3. Be Ready for a Technical Interview

Most IT jobs include a technical interview, which is the optimal time to showcase your expertise. Take the time to practice any technical skills that you may need to demonstrate during this portion of the interview process. Blake mentioned that this can be difficult during a remote interview.

“It can be difficult to showcase your skills without a white board. There’s a creative element to the technical interview, and you lose the tactile part of it when you interview remote,” he said. He recommended anticipating that and preparing yourself with any specific examples of your work ahead of time.

IT And Cybersecurity Have Grown Up

The trifecta (or hat trick) of cybersecurity, then, reflects the fact that cybersecurity has grown up, in a lot of ways. I love the technical side of cybersecurity; it’s fun to geek out and create intrusion detection services using Zeek and the ELK / Elastic Stack. I love discussing threat hunting, and how security analysts create data-driven hypotheses to profile and thwart attackers. Yet it’s also gratifying to see how cybersecurity is addressing the importance of risk management, and cybersecurity management in general. After all, you can’t have proper cybersecurity without considering all elements of the cybersecurity trifecta.

Though Governance, Risk Management and Compliance (GRC) might seem boring, they really aren’t. Why is that? Well, think of GRC from the perspective of an individual who uses the internet every day. We all want reasonable proof that our Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is being properly curated, managed and stored.

How exactly can you prove this? Well, one of the primary ways is to ensure that an organization – say, one that provides social media services – has complied to useful laws and cybersecurity frameworks. That’s what compliance means. The term governance is used to describe the steps, measures and procedures a company takes in order to be compliant.

Cybersecurity Openings, Everywhere

Cybersecurity is an exploding industry! Get in now! The pay is great, the possibilities endless! What are you waiting for?! Get started now!

And you know what? It’s all true.

Sometimes even this lowly blogger asks himself: What the hell am I doing writing marketing content about cybersecurity growth when I could easily get certified and experience its benefits for myself?

If I ever think of a good answer, I’ll be sure to let you know.

But back to LeaderQuest and the aforementioned yapping. We can go on and on about the 0% unemployment rate, the half a million job openings, and facts like, “the workforce must grow by 145% to meet global demand.”

But talk is tiring. Rather than continue telling you about all cybersecurity jobs available, repeating all the lines you’ve heard before, this time we’d like to show you.

Thanks to Cyberseek.org, we can do just that. The website, which seeks to “close the cybersecurity talent gap with interactive tools and data,” has a fun, useful map showing the amount of cybersecurity job openings in all 50 states.

Guess what? There isn’t a state in the union that doesn’t have literally hundreds of openings. Most have thousands. Many are in the tens of thousands. See for yourself!

Certifications Help You Stand Out in Interviews

Before you even set foot inside a potential employer’s office, recruiters and resume scanning software will look for key certifications like CompTIA A+, CompTIA Security+, Certified Ethical Hacker, or Certified Network Defender. That means that certifications can make or break even getting a seat at the interview. Once you’re in, certifications can help you stand up against candidates who might have as much or more experience than you.
6. Great Certs Equal Greater Earning/Salary Potential

There’s no doubt that certifications will help you make more money and this is true for many industries. In terms of project management, this study from PMI® showed that certified Project Management Professionals (PMP®) earn an average of 20% more than their uncertified counterparts. Not bad at all!

In terms of IT, Georgetown University’s Center on Education found that men with certificates in computer/information services earned $72,498 per year. That was more than 72% of men who held an associate degree and more than 54% who had a bachelor’s degrees. However, if you really want to be competitive and get a degree as well, certifications can help because…
