post-mortem briefing incident response

Holding a post-mortem briefing with your incident response team members after the incident has taken place and the fallout has mostly been uncovered is a key component to preventing it from happening again. This type of follow up is important because your employees need to understand how the breach could have been prevented in the first place.

“Looking back to look ahead” is a key element of threat intelligence and risk assessment. If you are able to identify the root cause of the breach via, for instance, the logs on your firewall or security information and event management (SIEM) software, you may be able to automate a response that can prevent the breach the next time it rolls around.

Post-incident you will also need to inform your customers, vendors and technology partners of the incident in order to move forward as a community.

It’s important to stay humble when going through the incident response process. Assume you will be attacked as opposed to thinking you are too strong to be affected. Remaining humble in your planning, training and communications will help to mitigate any unforeseen perception hits to your organization.

Why Is Ransomware Spiking

Things seem to have settled into a tenuous rhythm since the initial shock to our institutions caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The shift to an all- or mostly remote workplace has not been without its hiccups but has allowed many companies to continue doing business while stemming the spread of the virus. This new, sudden and unexpected way of working, though, has had consequences. Just as there have been – and will continue to be – unforeseen social, economic, infrastructural and individual challenges as a result of the pandemic, there have also been unanticipated challenges in the world of cybersecurity.

Cybersecurity pros, working in an already high-stress profession have had, like so many others, to deal with the challenges of maintaining peak performance amid extreme uncertainty while balancing work and home commitments suddenly heaped upon them. More surprisingly, even the that cybersecurity pros need to stave off have changed. For example, ransomware, a type of malware attack that had actually been experiencing a bit of a downturn pre-pandemic, has skyrocketed since mid-March 2020, outpacing other common cybersecurity threats.

Reasons Why Cloud Skills Training

In the last decade, the world of business has changed considerably due to the impact of technological innovation. In particular, cloud computing has grown into one of the most important paradigms in business. As such, it has become imperative for any business to adopt cloud technology. History has shown that whenever there is a new change in technology, organizations are forced to either hire new talent who possess the relevant skills or to train existing employees to adapt to that new technology.

Today, it has become very essential for all organizations to bridge the skills gap in cloud technologies. Since employees skills are the bedrock of success for all organizations, a successful business must attract, retrain, and grow talent with the most in-demand skills. The “cloud skills gap” is growing at a faster rate than in previous years, and it is necessary for every organization to acknowledge, confront, overcome the gap as soon as possible.

The growth of cloud computing is taking place at a rapid rate, and this has posed a serious challenge for many organizations. As per the Cost of Cloud Expertise Report (2017), 60% of organizations are struggling to keep pace with cloud technology due to a lack of relevant skills. On the other hand, organizations that can utilize expertise in adapting to the latest advances in cloud technology are enjoying enormous benefits.

Profitable Career In Cyber Security

The field of cyber security is growing every year by leaps and bounds as companies and other organizations realize how imperative it is to protect their networks and data. According to the Cybersecurity Ventures’ 2019 Cybersecurity Market Report, worldwide spending on cyber security is expected to exceed one trillion dollars by 2025. As companies struggle to keep up with the rising threat of cyber crime, they’re having one major problem: they can’t find enough qualified candidates.

That’s right, cyber security specialists are so in demand that the number of open positions has outstripped the number of qualified applicants by as much as 2 to 1 in some industries. So what’s holding applicants back? About one-third of information security jobs require a cyber security certification compared to 23 percent of all IT jobs. In the U.S. alone, some 50,000 vacant jobs require the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification. But the number of certificate holders is only about 73,500, according to the Information Security System Certification Consortium, and most of them are already working.

Are you considering a career in cyber security, but not sure where to start? LeaderQuest offers multiple cyber security training programs that can prepare you to enter this exciting industry. Take a look at the four programs below, and you’ll be able to choose one that’s ideal for where you are now and what you’d like to do with your career.

values CompTIA certifications

Jain searched for discussion groups and social platforms that had the right audience – potential test takers. She looked for groups that were discussing not only CompTIA but also terms related to the IT industry and IT certifications. These are the people she chose to focus on.
2. Use Keywords

Beginning with a short and catchy headline really grabs the reader’s attention, Jain said. Make sure your messaging is clear, simple and concise. Her advice is to use only 3 to 4 sentences including keywords. For example, Jain said when a potential test taker searches for a good deal, some obvious, but very important, keywords would be “discount,” “voucher,” “20%” and “CompTIA.”

Furthermore, Jain said tracking audience reactions and comments to her posts helped her refine and improve her messaging.
3. Create Urgency

Highlighting the referral link, and directing people to click on it, makes a call to action very simple. And creating a sense of urgency helps as well. Jain suggested using verbiage like “valid only today” followed by specific details to help people commit.
